What is Bubble?

Bubble is the most mature and capable visual no-code platform for building web applications. Unlike simpler website builders, Bubble lets you create genuinely complex, data-driven applications with user authentication, databases, API integrations, conditional logic, and responsive layouts — all through a drag-and-drop visual editor. It has been around since 2012 and has a thriving ecosystem of plugins, templates, and a large community of professional Bubble developers (called Bubble agencies) who build production applications for clients using the platform.

The AI features in Bubble have evolved significantly. The platform now includes an AI builder that lets you describe your application in natural language and generates a starting point — pages, database structure, and basic workflows — that you can then refine visually. This dramatically reduces the time from idea to working prototype. Bubble AI also assists with specific tasks like writing workflow logic, suggesting database schema optimizations, and explaining what existing workflow elements do in plain English.

Bubble's real strength is the ceiling on what it can build. Unlike lightweight no-code tools, Bubble can handle complex multi-sided marketplaces, SaaS applications, internal tools, and social platforms. Bubble-built apps can serve millions of users and handle significant data volumes. The platform offers native hosting on Bubble's infrastructure or the ability to configure a custom domain, and recently added a dedicated environment for compliance-heavy industries. The learning curve is steeper than simpler tools, but the capability ceiling is proportionally higher.
